Welcome to Illawong Lodge

Snowbound in winter, Illawong Lodge is located at about 1600 metres altitude in Kosciuszko National Park, New South Wales, Australia. It is several kilometres from the nearest roads, power, gas, water, sewer, telephones, ski lifts, and other services.

Since the 1950s, members of Illawong Ski Tourers have used the lodge as a base for cross-country and backcountry skiing and bushwalking, while maintaining the historic, cultural and environmental values of Illawong Lodge.

Illawong members and friends built the flying fox across Farm Creek and the swing bridge across the nearby Snowy River, which is the main access point for skiers and bushwalkers heading up onto the main range.

Today Illawong Ski Tourers manages Illawong Lodge for its cultural heritage values and to enable more people to visit and stay at Illawong, under a 2009 agreement with the NSW Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water.
